ABOUT TRANSITIONS® ADAPTIVE GOGGLE LENSES
Transitions® adaptive goggle lenses feature a light base tint for dim outdoor lighting conditions and automatically darken and change colors in bright sunlight. They are designed to enhance visual performance during specific outdoor sports and activities and are color optimized to increase contrast and boost depth perception.
Transitions® adaptive goggle lenses are eyewear equipment that give you a visual advantage. The adaptive lenses automatically change color and tint in response to changing light and weather conditions. You will experience:

Advanced Molecular Technology
Transitions® Optical has developed over 3 500 different photochromic (color changing) dyes that can be chemically blended into a lens using their innovative imbibing or Trans-Bonding™ processes. These specialized chemical processes ensure a higher quality photochromic technology that never “peels” like laminated photochromic lenses.
Ordinary goggle lenses always remain one static level of tint– which is why they can seem too dark on cloudy days or not dark enough in sunny conditions. Transitions® adaptive goggle lenses automatically darken in bright sunlight and lighten in overcast/cloudy weather. The process is so seamless that you don’t even notice the tint changing.
In various lighting conditions certain colors can enhance vision. Transitions® adaptive goggle lenses change from one tint and color in low light to darker tint and color in bright light (light yellow to dark gray). The yellow base tint of Dragon Transitions adaptive goggle lenses has been shown to enhance contrast in cloudy or foggy conditions. The activated gray tint is best for providing contrast and comfort in bright light conditions.
WHAT COLOR IS THE TRANSITIONS® ADAPTIVE GOGGLE LENS?
The lens base color is yellow indoors and in low light conditions. As the intensity of outdoor light changes the lens color and tint will continuously change. In overcast and cloudy conditions the lens will adjust to a mid-gray tint. In bright sunny conditions the lens color will adapt to a dark gray.

HOW DARK DOES THE DRAGON TRANSITIONS ADAPTIVE SNOW LENS GET?
The darkness of the lens tint will vary between 76% and 16% Visible Light Transmission (VLT):
· Inactivated (no ambient UV): 76%
· Activated @ 10°C: 16%
· Activated @ 23°C: 28%
· Activated @ 35°C: 41%
VLT measures the amount of natural light that enters through the lens. A high percentage rate signifies a lighter lens tint which allows more natural light into the lens in overcast shaded or low-light conditions. A lower percent signifies a darker lens tint and is typically best for glare control in sunny conditions.
All Transitions lenses block 100% UVA and UVB rays.
DOES TEMPERATURE HAVE AN IMPACT ON PHOTOCHROMIC TECHNOLOGY?
· Yes – colder temperatures along with higher elevations can impact photochromic reaction times
In colder weather photochromic molecules typically darken and lighten at a slower pace. In warm weather the molecules move quickly and are more reactive to light. This causes the lenses to darken and lighten faster as you move from sun to shade or as the weather changes. The Transitions adaptive snow lens is specifically formulated for cold weather climates to ensure the lenses are not as sensitive as other photochromics in extreme temperatures.
WHEN SHOULD I USE MY ADAPTIVE GOGGLES?

Transitions adaptive technology eliminates the need to switch between multiple lenses in one day. It is best for days when you will experience variable light conditions as a result of changes in the time of day (from morning to afternoon) or changes in weather (from sunny to cloudy). It is also recommended for conditions in which you will need improved or increased depth perception.
